The Silent Weaver: The extraordinary Life and Work of Angus MacPhee

9 Feb 2012 in Film, Visual Arts & Crafts

The Silent Weaver: The extraordinary Life and Work of Angus MacPhee told in prose, poetry and film with Roger Hutchinson and Chrys Salt and a film by Joanne B Kaar will take place on Saturday 25th February at The Bakehouse in Gatehouse of Fleet (@ 7.00 for 7.30).

Award winning author and journalist, Roger Hutchinson traces the life of a remarkable man in a rich, moving and enthralling explanation of mental health, the creative process, human frailty and ancient traditions. His reading will be counterpointed by a reading of Chrys Salt’s poem Angus MacPhee, Weaver of Grass, the centre-piece of her forthcoming collection.

Praise for Roger Hutchinson’s ‘The Silent Weaver':

“This wonderfully touching true story” – The Sunday Herald

“This is a story which will stay with me for a long time and Roger Hutchinson has done his subject proud.” – Press and Journal

“A fascinating, poignant read” – The Scotsman

 Praise for Chrys Salt’s work:

..her verse sounds distinctly female, bathed in the female element of language, letting it speak through her….her work will become widely known and loved, popular, because it speaks of past forms in a language so finely tuned it appears natural. Ambit
