Braebach and The Attic at Universal Hall

23 Feb 2012 in Moray, Music

Ever since they launched their career as winners of an Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections 2005, (and they were also headliners at this year’s event), Breabach’s star has been steeply on the rise, an ascent set to continue with the release of their hotly anticipated third album, Bann, on March 5th 2012. Previously nominated as Best Band in both the Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Scots Trad Music Awards, Breabach continue on their trajectory to the very top of the trad and roots music scene.

Powered by double bagpipes, flute and fiddle, this uncompromising force is further fueled by the tight groove of double bass, guitar and step-dance. Breabach are comprise of the talents of Calum MacCrimmon (pipes/whistles), Ewan Robertson (guitar/vocals), James Mackenzie (pipes/flute/whistles), Megan Henderson (fiddle/vocals/stepdance) and James Lindsay (double bass). This is a very welcome return to the Universal Hall for this excellent young band.

“As disciplined as they’re fiery, as tasteful as they’re exhilarating, they blend the best of old and new in truly compelling style” The Scotsman

The Attic is a beautiful piece of theatre for the very young from Starcatchers. Come up the stairs, blow away the cobwebs and peep into the boxes. Who knows what might happen when the sleepy attic comes to life. Grandma and Lucy are up in the attic where all the memories are stored. Hidden in dusty containers at the top of the house, they have been waiting a long time to come out and play. Featuring live music and actors this show is for children aged 3 – 5, their parents and carers. Running time 45 mins

“spell-binding fun for little ones.” The Herald
