Blood & Bones – work by Patricia Niemann

27 Feb 2012 in Highland, Visual Arts & Crafts

Caithness based goldsmith, glass artist and designer is to show an exhibition of her work at Broadfield House Glass Museum in the West Midlands from the 3rd March – 5th August 2012. The Glass Museum is proud to present a solo show of work by Patricia Niemann, featuring glass, jewellery, textiles and drawings, inspired by the human body, funeral archaeology and the wild landscapes of Scotland.

Patricia Niemann, originally a goldsmith, is interested in human fears, anthropology, theatre and all forms of body adornment – especially objects that change the silhouette of the wearer. Much of her inspiration is drawn from working in the remote North Highlands, with its wilderness, wide open spaces, the deteriorating and forming effects of the harsh weather and funeral archaeology.

On show will be unusual jewellery in precious metals and hot glass, as well as glass objects, textiles and also drawing, which is fundamental to her practice.

Exhibition open: 3 March – 5 August 2012, Tuesday – Sunday, 12 noon to 4pm
