Squashy Bag Dance Band at Glenuig

30 Mar 2012 in Highland, Music

The Squashy Bag Dance Band embarked on their first odyssey on the Easter weekend of 2003. Although the five band members had come from all walks of life it was this explosive experience – Friday night in Inverie, Saturday night on the Island of Rum – that made them realise they wanted to devote their lives to dance music.

Over one thousand weddings and several international festivals followed, culminating in perhaps their greatest accolade to date: The Gregor MacGregor Dance Band Award for Most Distinguishing Feature. Fame doesn’t always bring happiness though, and eventually the band courageously decided to go back to their day jobs, re-uniting once or twice a year in glorious celebration somewhere on their beloved west coast of Scotland.

These rare and joyful occasions are not to be missed! One look at the line-up and it’s easy to see why Jimmy Page once said “I didn’t know the meaning of rocking out until I stripped the willow with the Squashy Bag Dance Band.”

Saturday 7 April, doors open 7.30pm, dance begins at 8pm.
