The Medicine Show Spring Collection

2 Apr 2012 in Highland, Music

We have The first Couple of Americana, a Rock Folk Legend meeting a Folk Rock Legend, Harmonies at a House Concert In a Lighthouse, The Devonshire Cream of Bluegrass Music, world class Appalachian Flailing Banjo, Highland/Swedish Folk/Blues/Country, Aberdeen Funk, Kirkcaldy Country, Highland Hot Jazz, San Diego Sass, Caledonian Blues, Scot-icana, and Dave Fleming, to look forward to.

Its shaping up well for a suitable burst into a world of colour to help shake off those local winter woes.

The Medicine Show is on the road this week to welcome in the spring weather with a suitable burst of activity. We are staging and recording concerts up and down the country as well as back home in the Tea Posy at the Greenhouse in Dingwall. It starts with an exclusive recording of the first couple of Americana, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart’s fist European Tour show to promote “Dedication” the new CD, to a sell out audience at The Rio Cafe in Glasgow on Wednesday, with Highland Duo Red Hook Rapids and Highland Country Music Personality Fash Stewart in supporting roles.

This show goes on to The Kirkcaldy Acoustic Music Club on Thurs 5th and reconvenes after Stacey and Mark have toured England, The Low Countries, Germany and Switzerland, at Bogbain Farm Inverness on May 19th (Stacey and Mark also play the Red Roof Gallery on Skye on the 18th, Rothesay Isle of Bute on the 20th May).

We return this Friday just in time to welcome Inverness Indie Scot-icana giants The Galipaygoes, for this weeks popular Saturday Set at The Greenhouse, 2pm, April 7th,  With this years first new album already out and free to download from their website, Inverness’s most prolific band will be treating us to a meander through songs from their extensive catalogue.

Then we Go North on Sunday for close harmonies songsters Gary Hall and Ian Bailey at The Make Shift Theatre House Concert at Dunnet Head Light House. Then back for Monday with a master, Mr Dave Sharp, and the sorcerers apprentice Davy Cowan. Highland Leg-end Davy Cowan will be joining his pal and mentor Dave Sharp for a few numbers on Monday in the Tea Posy Dingwall. The last time Dave Sharp was here was for the launch of Davy Cowan’s album “The Journey” at the Iron Works to a rocking full house, this will be no less rocking, and I suspect no less full.

Dave Sharp was a founder member and guitarist of seminal Welsh Rockers The Alarm, on their demise Dave took off in search of his musical roots hard travelling across America, finally settling in New Orleans and perfecting his craft playing the clubs of Bourbon Street. Simply one of the best guitarist and songwriters alive. Tuesday we have Dave on The Loch Broom Medicine Show live at 7pm which will be broadcast on UKCountryRadio.com Wednesday and Thursday and all week in rotation on Medicine Show Radio  along with Guest Shows from The US, Germany, Ireland and Munlochy (Blackilse Harmonica ace Retro Smith, presents his Blues Show for us for the first time next week)

Here’s the lot listed and linked, and please accept my thanks for your continued support for all Medicine Show enterprises. I particularly thank our friends  Steve and Clancy at Square Wheels Cycles of Strathpeffer, without whom we just wouldn’t have a chance of hosting all this great music from all around the world.
