Wildbird seek Young Photographers for Theatre, Film and Animation Project
1 Jun 2012 in Dance & Drama, Film, Moray
Moray arts company Wildbird need enthusiastic young photographers from the North East, Highlands and Argyll to get snapping.
Dreich House is a theatre and film project supported by Creative Scotland that is set to tour the North East, Highlands and Argyll next December and January. It tells the story of fifteen year old Ruby Love whose despicable mother has sent her to Dreich House for the christmas holidays. To all appearances Dreich House is just another forbidding gothic mansion in a remote Scottish Glen that promises adventure activity holidays for children that nobody Loves. But to its clients; (gamblers, hit-men and all sorts of scurrilous and careless characters) – it’s a holiday destination with a single dark purpose; to ‘disappear’ children that nobody loves without a trace – satisfaction guaranteed.
In February and March Wildbird auditioned for six youth cast members to play Ruby and the Dreich House kids in venues across the North East, Highlands and Argyll. The selected cast then came to Evanton in the easter Holidays to make a green screen film which will be combined with animation and live theatre to create the finished multi media one man theatre production.
For the next stage of the project we need enthusiastic young photographers and artists to send us pictures that we can combine with the green screen footage to complete the filmed sections of the production. Anyone interested should go to www.dreichhouse.com for more information and a detailed shot list that sets out what we’re looking for, plus tips, technical requirements, how to upload pics and more. Contributors will work directly with our animator Fraser MacDonald of Node Graphics and will be able to see their work develop as it progresses through the production process. They can also view clips, learn techniques and share ideas which get them inspired.
Venu Dhupa, Director of Creative Development at Creative Scotland said; “Dreich House is sure to be an entertaining Christmas production blending theatre, film, storytelling and photography. The production has offered up a host of opportunities for young people get involved and develop their skills in theatre, film and now photography.’
