20 July 8 pm the Scottish Chamber Orchestra makes its eagerly-awaited annual visit to the Pavilion. With popular guest conductor Nicholas McGegan, the SCO performs symphonies by Mozart and Haydn, both written to impress the Parisian audiences of their time. There are also well-known favourites and rarities from 18th century operatic repertoire, including music by Mozart and Cimarosa and a selection of arias by Haydn, performed by the brilliant South African baritone William Berger. 25 July 8 pm the Tannahill Weavers – one of Scotland’s longest-established traditional groups, one of whose early members was the great Dougie MacLean. 2 Aug 8 pm Strangebird Zirkus thrilled the Pavilion audience last year with a performance of “Uncharted Waters” with aerial dance company All Or Nothing. 7 Sep 7.30 pm Blas Festival tribute to Calum Kennedy. Hosted by Fiona Kennedy and Arthur Cormack, this evening pays tribute to Fiona’s late and internationally acclaimed father. 21 Sep 8 pm Glasgow Phoenix Choir – we’re delighted to welcome one of Scotland’s greatest choirs back to the Pavilion. Springing from the ashes of the legendary Orpheus Choir, the Phoenix has since proved to be a more than worthy successor. As on previous visits to the Pavilion (and at concerts elsewhere), special guests will be Glasgow Phoenix’s favourite Gaelic choir – our own Dingwall Gaelic Choir, regular prizewinners at the National Gaelic Mod and various local mods. 2 Nov 8 pm Skerryvore – originally from the Isle of Tiree and now based in Glasgow, Skerryvore are favourites on the music festival circuit, feature in VisitScotland’s current TV ad and have thrilled audiences from Chicago to Shanghai. Lead singer Alec Dalglish won the Frankie Miller Songwriter of the Year award last year. Their sound has evolved in recent years but still maintains a strong ceilidh element.
