Tiller’s Folly perform in Tain
19 Jul 2012 in Highland, Music
North Highland Connections is presenting another of its events in the inspiring setting of the historic St Duthus Collegiate Church in Tain, Ross-shire. The concert, by the Canadian group ‘Tiller’s Folly’, will take place on Tuesday, 31st July, at 7:30pm.
Tiller’s Folly are the Pacific Northwest’s critically acclaimed, internationally traveled, ambassadors of song and at the forefront of a bold new movement in acoustic roots music. For the past sixteen years, through 1,000’s of performances stretching from the Pacific Northwest to the British Isles, they have spread their memorable blend of energy, history, musicality, romance and just plain fun from small and large halls to theatres and festivals.
Hailed by critics (“Tiller’s Folly is a national treasure”. – Peter North, Edmonton Journal), their words and melodies are at once populist, minimally produced and poignant while at the same time singularly powerful and sincere.
Tiller’s Folly have toured Scotland five times in the past eight years. A presence augmented by two short solo tours by Bruce Coughlan. This year, the band has again been invited to represent Western Canada at the prestigious Speyfest Pan Celtic Music Festival in Morayshire, Scotland. The festival is celebrating its seventeenth year, and features the finest Celtic talent from all over the world, both traditional and progressive. This is the band’s forth invitation, an honour due in some part from having composed the festival’s official theme song Ceilidh By The Spey (Buchan Bluegrass 2005).
Tickets for the concert (£8; £6 concessions) can be reserved by calling 0752 107 7053, or e-mail: MF@northhighlandconnections.org
