We Think Not – Dance Performance Double Bill

28 & 29 July The Universal Hall Arts Centre, Findhorn

3 – 12 August Dancebase, Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Karl Jay-Lewin is a Findhorn based, independent choreographer and dancer. It has been said that his work has ‘moved audiences to tears, laughter and exasperation in equal measure’.

He is a recipient of Choreographic Futures Fellowship 2012/13 as part of Creative Scotland’s Creative Futures Fund and Artistic Director of Bodysurf Scotland.

Anushiye Yarnell (Wales/England) is ‘an innovative, tantalizing and provocative performer’, with a ‘distinctive, quirky, gauche yet elegant style’.

On Sat 28th and Sun 29th of July at Findhorn and for nine dates at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, they’ll be performing their distinctive adaptations of Deborah Hay’s extraordinary choreography, I Think Not. Deborah Hay is an iconic choreographer and performer from the USA, who has been coming to Findhorn for the last 8 years, commissioned by groups of international professional dancers to choreograph different dance solos. The individual dancers make their own adaptations of Deborah’s choreography, adhering to a strict three-month minimum practice period. I Think Not was commissioned in 2011.

This is a fairly short programme, running for about 50 minutes.

Here And Gone.

No hesitation. No reconsideration.

The future has no one to hold, the past has no hands, no feet, nor phantom limbs.

What if there is a correspondence between the dancer’s aesthetics and her/his survival?

There is no time to hatch an invincible plan.

Ready! Fire! Aim!
