Fochabers Art Show – 22nd to 29th September

16 High Street venues featuring work by 28 artists

Between the 22nd and 29th September a diverse range of businesses on Fochabers High Street will be combining their usual activities with displays of artwork by professional artists.

From Christies Garden Centre to Baxters across the Spey there will be a diverse range of artwork, all of which will be available for sale.

Among others George Innes, butchers, will be displaying work by Keith Mellard and Maralyn Reed-Wood, while Spey Energy will have work by Local Sculptor Mary Bourne. Outrun is showing wire sculpture by Fiona Knox and Christie’s the Chemist has glass by Kathryn Abrahams and paintings by Edward Smith.

To kick off the week there is a Friday evening preview of an exhibition of work produced by pupils from Milne’s Primary School entitled ‘The High Street’ at Baxters Highland Village

The retail experience is increasingly conducted from the comfort of the armchair. Almost anything can now be bought online and the traditional High Street is in danger of extinction. When the idea of the Fochabers Art Show was first mooted, to draw attention to our own ‘High Street’ in the village, the question arose as to what the term meant to the younger members of our community. This is the basis of this exhibition, an expression of what the High Street means to the pupils of Milne’s primary School. I don’t think you’ll see many keyboards and computer monitors, but hopefully you will see something to enjoy!

The preview of ‘The High Street’ on Friday 21st September is at Baxters Highland Village from 6.00 to 7.30pm.

So even if you are not looking to buy, why not visit Fochabers High Street next week. You might just be surprised.
