Fiddle playing at its best – Duncan Chisholm comes to An Tobar this October to introduce you to the concluding part of his critically acclaimed StrathglassTrilogy. This unique and inspired idea of producing a suite of musical masterpieces,influenced by one of the most beautiful wilderness areas of Scotland, will reach its pinnacle with the release of the final composition. COMEDY with Susan Morrison, John Scott & Keir McAllister

Whether performing her own solo act or hosting The Stand’s big weekend gigs in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Susan is in a class of her own when it comes to quick-fire wit. Susan mixes real- life experiences, topical observations, audience interaction and Glasgow style storytelling to spellbinding effect. John Scott first hit the stage as a stand up back in 1999 at the Stand Comedy club in Edinburgh. In just three months he was asked to take part in his first Edinburgh festival run in the showcase Stand Up Scotland, a platform for the best new emerging talent. Keir McAllister started stand up in April 2004 when he entered the Dundee heat of the Jongleurs J20 Last Laugh Competition. Despite it being his first ever gig, he won and went on to win the Scottish final and found himself doing his third ever gig to over 1000 people in London’s Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly Circus.

DARK WOOD – Giants in the Forest

Symon MacIntyre and his team fromVision Mechanics will transform the woods at Calgary with lighting effects to set the scene for a ‘scratch festival’ involving local people, called Dark Wood. Based on Catriona MacLeod’s prize-winning play inspired by the giants, the event will lead audiences through the woods to happen across small performances as they progress along the path. Guides and Brownies will be making lanterns to light the way. Free, booking is essential.

MAIRI CAMPBELL & DAVID FRANCIS

Mairi & David mark the lives of Mairi’s forebears in song and story. ‘Revival!’ is the tale of Rev. Duncan Campbell of Argyll; ‘The Red Earth’ of John Anderson of Rhynie and Marjorie Anderson of Edinburgh and Luan, China, their journeys and their search for home.This show was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

An evening of sparkling ceilih-style entertainment from Irish storyteller Eddie Lenihan and renowned Scottish storytelling musician Bob Pegg. A fantastic family event (age 7+) for Storytelling Week.

EMMA –

MULL YOUTH THEATRE & LA COMPAGNIE D’UN SOIR

This afternoon will consist of afternoon tea followed by the performance, which is a theatrical exchange between MullYouthTheatre & La Companie D’un Soir.A meeting between Flaubert’s Emma Bovary and Jane Austen’s Emma. A spectacle bilingue performance by Clara Fruchon and Katherine Stevens.
