Scone Palace launches festive events programme

Scone Palace will be entering into the spirit of Christmas this year with the launch of a brand new festive events programme.
Extended opening hours will see the grounds remaining open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout November and December from 10.00am – 4.00pm
Visitors will be able to take a crisp winter walk around the grounds before enjoying a warming bowl of homemade soup, a turkey & cranberry Panini, or a delicious scone flavoured with a hint of Christmas spice in the Coffee Shop. The food shop will also be open to provide inspiration for that all-important Christmas shopping.
Running alongside the extended opening, a full programme of events and activities will provide entertainment for all the family throughout December.
Kids are being invited to take part in special Christmas Workshops in the Murray Rooms, making festive puppets or Christmas fairies with Scone’s professional puppet maker Sylvia Troon.
Classes will take place on Saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December at 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm and will run for 45 minutes.
Places are limited to 12 children per session and are suitable for children aged 6 – 12 years. (Adults may accompany their children however there is limited space, therefore 1 adult per child). Booking is essential, with tickets costing £5.00 per child. Call 01738 552300 to reserve spaces.
The Murray Rooms are also the venue for a fantastic new series of storytelling sessions. Storytellers Sheila Kinninmonth and Robbie Fotheringham will bring Christmas to life, helping youngsters discover new tales, make new friends and go on adventures with some of their favourite characters! All they need to bring is their imagination…..
Storytelling sessions will take place on Saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December at 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and will run for 45 minutes.

Music lovers can enjoy a colourful Christmas Carol Concert on 13th of December at 7.30pm in the company of local band Alba Brass. This special one-off event will take place in the atmospheric surroundings of the Long Gallery at Scone. Tickets are priced £12.50 and include a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. On Saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December at 10.30am, Santa Claus will be hosting a fun-filled Christmas Brunch Party in the Old Kitchen, with a present for every child. There’ll be entertainment from Scone’s story tellers and puppet makers and kids will be able to enjoy a party box filled with sandwiches, crisps, juice and cake.
Tickets are priced at £10.00 each and accompanying adults can enjoy a complimentary coffee. (Adult places are limited to one adult per 2 children). Booking is essential by calling 01738 552300.
Providing some much-needed warmth from the winter chill, Scottish Woodfuel products including firewood will be available to purchase at the Palace from early October, with Christmas trees and handmade wreaths on sale from late November/early December from the Estate Office. For the first time since opening its doors over 50 years ago, the Palace will also be welcoming individuals and companies over the festive period for exclusive use Christmas themed lunches in the Murray Rooms, overlooking the beautiful Parklands to the River Tay beyond.
