Australian concert pianist Tristan Lee is returning to the Highlands, with solo recitals and chamber performances taking place in various locations. He is joined by the Cruiteran Ensemble (managed by Thurso musician Della Hickey) for two concerts in Wick and Inverness, where they will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto no.12 in A (K414) and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.2. Tristan will direct both these works from the keyboard. In addition, the concert in Wick features young string players from Keiss and South Primary Schools, and Wick High School pupil Katie-Rose MacDonald has been invited to play with the Cruiteran Ensemble on this occasion.

Tristan Lee gained a Master of Music Performance (Distinction) from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2009, having graduated the previous year with a Bachelor of Music (first class honours) from the University of Melbourne, where he was Musician in Residence at St Hilda’s College. Since making his London debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2009, he has been enjoying a busy international performing schedule. Recent engagements include performances in all the home nations plus Italy, Lithuania, France, the Netherlands, Cuba and Australia.

His first visit to the Highlands was in Spring of 2012 when he performed Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto at Eden Court with the Highland Youth Symphony Orchestra (including pupils from Thurso and Wick High Schools. During July 2012 he gave acclaimed performances in Cromarty, Dornoch and at Lyth Arts Centre in Caithness. Tristan is happy to be returning to the Highlands again so soon, as he received such a warm welcome on his previous visit.
