Norway’s ‘most exciting new band’, Honningbarna, return to Scotland

19 Oct 2012 in Highland, Music

Norway’s ‘most exciting new band’ Honningbarna, are set to return to Scotland following their euphorically-received gigs at Wide Days and Go North earlier this year. From the 7th-10th November the five piece will play Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Thurso, as part of a month-long tour of the UK and Ireland.

Described by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway as ‘one of the finest acts I have seen in many, many years,’ and by Clash as Norway’s ‘most exciting new band,’ Honningarna have carved out an international reputation for their ferocious live shows.

Fronted by cello-playing singer, Edvard Valberg, the band have played almost 200 shows in less than two years, including prestigious international festivals Iceland Airwaves, Roskilde and Eurosonic. They made their Scottish debut at the Wide Days music conference in April and were a highlight at the Go North festival two months later.

In 2011 Honningbarna won the Best Rock Act award at the Norwegian equivalent of a Grammys, beating several established bands. And next month they begin recording the follow up to their 2011 debut album La Alarmane Gå [click to listen], with producer Pelle Gunnerfeldt, known for his work with The Hives, The Knife, The Hellacopters and Peter Bjorn & John.
