2 Nov 8 pm Skerryvore – originally from the Isle of Tiree and now based in Glasgow, Skerryvore are favourites on the music festival circuit, feature in VisitScotland’s current TV ad and have thrilled audiences from Chicago to Shanghai. Lead singer Alec Dalglish won the Frankie Miller Songwriter of the Year award last year and the group was named Live Act of the Year in the 2011 Scots Trad Music Awards. Their sound has evolved in recent years but still maintains a strong ceilidh element. 15 Nov 8 pm Stu Brown Sextet. The Stu Brown Sextet was formed in 2008, to celebrate 100 years since the birth of the little known band leader, composer and inventor Raymond Scott, whose wacky, hyper-animated, eyeball-popping ‘cartoon jazz’ is most widely recognisable for its use in the Looney Tunes cartoons from the 1940s onwards and, more recently, in Ren and Stimpy and The Simpsons. music with all the Latin American elements of salsa has taken them

and their music all over the world. The group has been a hit at all

major Celtic, jazz, world music and salsa festivals, as well as topping

the New York and LA salsa charts and European world music charts

and being nominated for folk music awards.

 

The lineup combines some of Scotland and Ireland’s most exciting

traditional musicians together with a stellar group of world, jazz

22-25 Nov – Art Fair

The Pavilion’s spectacular annual Art Fair, organized by Friends of the Pavilion and typically showing nearly 400 original works by well over 100 artists working in the Highlands & Islands. All work for sale. NB: participation in this event is by invitation only – the Friends Art Fair committee now has over 350 artists on its list and cannot possibly include all of them every year. Opening times are:

Entry is free, though there will be a small charge for the catalogue. There will also be a raffle and, as always, the Friends of the Pavilion will sell teas with their own delicious home baking during the day.

28 Nov 8 pm The Animals & Friends. Featuring John Steel and Mickey Gallagher from The Animals, plus Danny Handley (performed alongside Spencer Davies, Bobby Elliott and Rick Lee), and Pete Barton (The Mindbenders, Boomtown Rats). Plus very special guest Zoot Money.
