Eden Court to give Burns Night a dramatic twist

9 Nov 2012 in Highland

Eden Court is well-acquainted with giving traditional celebrations a dramatic twist, and Burns Night 2013 promises to be no exception as the theatre’s CREATIVE department announces another large-scale interactive performance on the 25th January, ‘A Haggis Lich Nicht!’. The event has been planned as part of Scotland’s Winter Festivals, which bring together our uniquely Scottish cultural celebrations, showcasing the country as a great visitor destination and the perfect stage for events.

Promising a hearty portion of family fun and laughter, ‘A Haggis Lich Nicht!’ will see brave warriors and chefs take to the streets of Inverness, in a bid to round up the Highland capital’s furry delicacies which have escaped and are on the run! Audiences will be encouraged to cheer on the brave Haggis Snatchers and march the feast to Eden Court for a finale performance, celebrating all things Burns in true Highland style.

Eden Court CREATIVE Manager Kati Kozikowska said:

“We’re calling on everyone in the Highlands to help us round up these mischievous haggi– we can’t have Burns Night without them! ‘A Haggis Lich Nicht’ will be a fantastic way to celebrate the day of Scotland’s Bard, combining music, dance, drama and laughter – and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. We’re delighted to be teaming up with EventScotland again to deliver an exciting and memorable celebration as part of SCOTLAND’S WINTER FESTIVALS.”

Minister for External Affairs Humza Yousaf said:

”A Haggis Lich Nicht!’ promises to be a fun family event and is a highlight of Scotland’s Winter Festival programme in the Highlands.

”Interactive events like this are an excellent way to mark some of Scotland’s important cultural celebrations and raise awareness amongst adults and children alike of the works of our national bard, Robert Burns.”

Funded by the Scottish Government, Scotland’s Winter Festivals are delivered by the national events agency EventScotland, part of VisitScotland.
