No sooner does our cracking Christmas panto Mother Goose take flight on 5 Jan, than the cast of The Seafarer will be gathering to start rehearsals.

Rachel O’Riordan directs this joint production with Lyric Theatre Belfast which receives both its Scottish and Northern Irish premieres in February 2013

Louis Dempsey (Cloud Atlas, Revolver, Waterloo Road) plays James ‘Sharky’ Harkin in Conor McPherson’s Olivier nominated play. The chilling and darkly comic tale follows the erstwhile fisherman/van driver/chauffeur and recovering alcoholic as he returns to his home town to look after his recently blinded brother. Joined on Christmas Eve by some old buddies for a festive tipple and a game of poker in the company of a mysterious stranger, Sharky soon comes to realise that the drink is not the only demon he is facing that night.

The Seafarer runs in Perth Theatre from Friday 8 February to Saturday 23 February and in the Lyric Theatre, Belfast from Thursday 28 February to Saturday 23 March.
