RedPoppy Restaurant have announced that they will be moving to new premises in Strathpeffer during the summer of 2013.

Along with the restaurant within the Pavilion, RedPoppy have provided wonderful in-house catering at Strathpeffer Pavilion since 2006 and have been major contributors to the success of the restored iconic venue.

Andrea Muir, General Manager at the Pavilion says: ‘RedPoppy and Strathpeffer Pavilion have worked together for a number of years and both become established during this time. We are happy that the new restaurant will remain in the village and continue to offer a very popular eating place for locals and visitors. It is an exciting time for the Pavilion and RedPoppy and we wish Nick Aburrow and all his staff the very best for the new venture.’

Nick Aburrow, Proprietor of RedPoppy Restaurant and Events Catering said ‘We will be sad to leave Strathpeffer Pavilion which has been a fantastic ‘home’ for us for the past 7 years. However, we are excited about our new premises in the village which will allow us to continue to offer a wonderful menu to customers old and new. Our outside catering department will be unaffected by this move and we are delighted that we will still be working closely with the Pavilion’.

There are several options currently being considered by Strathpeffer Pavilion including using the ‘RedPoppy’ space as an additional venue in its own right. This would provide an intimate atmosphere for smaller performances and to offer facilities and options that have not hitherto been available. Mrs Muir is enthusiastic about the potential ‘This available space provides Strathpeffer Pavilion will several intriguing options which will have to be carefully considered. To be able to offer additional facilities would be great for the Pavilion and would result in us being able to expand the nature and variety of entertainment we currently offer to the discerning fans of the performing arts from the north of Scotland’.

The Strathpeffer Pavilion is used regularly as an upmarket venue for weddings with an increasing number of couples using The Pavilion’s connection with the Earl of Cromartie to hold the wedding ceremony in nearby Castle Leod. The Pavilion and RedPoppy will continue to provide all facilities thereafter for the wedding breakfast and reception. Couples already booked with the Pavilion and RedPoppy will unaffected by these changes.

Strathpeffer Pavilion has recently announced plans for its most ambitious year yet. Highlights of the spring programme include the UK’s No.1 Medium Derek Acorah on March 20th making his first visit to Strathpeffer. April will be a busy month for arts supporters with the hugely acclaimed Opera Bohemia performing the ever popular Madame Butterfly on the 14th. The production will be led by rising Scottish star Catriona Clark in the role of Cio-Cio San, supported by a cast of up and coming professional opera singers. One critic was impressed when he commented ‘One of the most exciting new opera companies in the country’. High praise indeed. Several days later on the 17th April, the Ivor Novello winning Scottish musician Edwyn Collins makes one of only 3 Scottish appearances as part of his ‘Understated’ tour after asking his manager to specifically include Strathpeffer in his schedule. Also in April (20th) the Irish-born Rose-Marie is an international singing star, well known to British audiences and justifiably one of our most popular singers, with awards for ‘Best International Concert Star’, ‘National Singer of the Year’ and ‘Most Popular Country Singer’. Her flame red hair has become one of the enduring icons of popular music. Ex Runrig frontman, Donnie Munro has just been confirmed for an acoustic performance on April 12th.
