Kosmos Ensemble on tour in March
25 Feb 2013 in Aberdeen City & Shire, Highland, Music
Kosmos Ensemble unites the rich and intricate texture of classical musicianship with the depth and integrity of traditional music from the Balkans and beyond. With their inspiring fusion of folk music traditions from around the world, sophisticated jazz glides magically into wild gypsy fiddling, emotive Jewish music into hot-blooded Tango, free improvisation into Arabic melody. Kosmos has received fantastic critical acclaim and Richard Morrison of the Times praises: “I’ve heard Kosmos several times now and love not just their unique mixing of Middle Eastern, East European and Western classical traditions but also their telepathic rapport, dazzling virtuosity, serious scholarship, intellectual curiosity and impeccable musicianship. I defy you not to be mesmerised.” Richard Morrison, The Times. Do have a look at this video of Kosmos Ensemble’s performance at the South Bank Centre to give you a flavour of their live performance.
