Following its sell-out success last year, the legendary A Play, A Pie and A Pint comes to Perth Theatre in April, marking a homecoming for local director Ross MacKay.

The former Perth Youth Theatre member and Queen Margaret University graduate directs new work In the Heart of Darby Park, a debut Scottish production for award-winning Australian playwright Suzie Miller.

Presented in collaboration with Òran Mór, Glasgow which pioneered the ground-breaking A Play, A Pie and A Pint format, In the Heart of Darby Park will be staged in Perth Theatre’s Redrooms bar at 6pm, just in time to catch the after-work crowd, from Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 April. The informal setting with a meat or vegetarian pie and a pint included in the ticket price is a fun and different way for audiences to enjoy theatre.

A gripping thriller, In the Heart of Darby Park centres on the mysterious disappearance of a young girl and the discovery of a body in a local park. Set over the course of a weekend, the play focuses on the police investigation into the incident, uncovering the stories within stories, hidden truths, secrets and lies and jealousy that lie beneath the surface of those we trust the most.

Suzie Miller said:

“In the Heart of Darby Park is a form shifting thriller which focuses upon unravelling related events running over different time sequences. As the story starts to reveal some truths the play forces audiences to question what assumptions we all make about the things we have decided are true.”

Ross MacKay said:

“In the Heart of Darby Parked gripped me the instant we discussed it. It tells a thought provoking story presented in a fascinating way. The play is full of drama and keeps the audience questioning right up until the last moment. It’s a powerful piece that stays with you.”

In the Heart of Darby Park is in Perth Theatre Redrooms at 6pm from Tuesday 2 April until Saturday 6 April. For tickets and information contact Horsecross Arts Box Office on 01738 621031 visit www.horsecross.co.uk.
