Come and Try Ukulele Workshop with Finlay Allison

22 May 2013 in Highland, Music

The world famous Come and Try Ukulele Workshop is coming to the Stables in Cromarty on Saturday 8 June and Sunday 9 June for a weekend of ukulele loveliness!

Finlay Allison, leading tutor from the Glasgow Fiddle Workshop has been teaching uke workshops at Celtic Connections in Glasgow for the past 5 years and has been instrumental in spreading the popularity of this charming, wee and very portable instrument. He now runs a uke orchestra in Glasgow and we have high hopes of forming a Uke Group up here in the Highlands.

Were you lucky enough to get a ukulele for Christmas or for a special birthday? Do you have any idea what to do with it? Or do you just fancy giving it a go. This is the weekend for you. Even if you don’t have your own instrument, Finlay will be bringing some with him. He will lead you some well known songs – perhaps not ‘When I’m Cleaning Windows’ and you will be hooked.

Warning:- Life will never be the same!

For those of you who already play mandolin or guitar, Finlay will also be teaching workshops on the Sunday for more confident players

Timings for the workshops are:

Saturday

11.00-1pm Come and Try for complete beginners

2pm – 4pm Ukulele for Recent Beginners

Sunday

11.00- 1pm Ukulele for beginners and players of other string instruments

2pm – 4pm Round Up Session for all abilities

Costs for the workshops are £10 for each workshop. These classes are mainly for adults and older children. Lunch may be provided depending on numbers. Early booking is advisable as numbers are limited as he can only fit a certain number of instruments into his car!
