An exhibition by Sutherland based artist Sue Jane Taylor. During the exhibition we are hosting a family day with artist Sue Jane Taylor on Saturday 13th July. In the evening of Thursday 22nd August, there will be a talk from Allan MacAskill.

 

 

A Midsummer Night’s Scream

Friday 21st June 6-9pm

Launch Event in Caithness Horizons. We’ll be joining in the fun of the Midsummer Night’s Scream event opening night with a graphic novel workshop with Sonya Paul followed by readings and a talk with Glasgow writer Kirsty Logan. There will also be a themed pasta buffet and a variety of thrills, spills and surprises. £6 per ticket, includes pasta buffet. Tickets available from www.screamthurso.co.uk

 

 

Patchwork Meadow Exhibition

Wild plants and the rural communities who maintain our landscapes are a fundamental part of Europe’s culture. Wild plants are part of what links different individuals and communities to each other, their history and their landscape throughout Europe and beyond.

 

From Friday 28th June until Sunday 28th July 2013 Caithness Horizons will be exhibiting patches from Wildflower Europe’s (http://wildflowereurope.org/) Patchwork Meadow Exhibition in the Museum’s Main Hall as part of the Wild North Festival (Friday 28th June until Sunday 7th July 2013).

 

 

Wild Flower Workshop With Fibre Artist Joanne B. Kaar

Saturday 29th June 2013

2.00-4.00pm

 

Come along to Caithness Horizons and join Fibre Artist Joanne B. Kaar and make paper from the plants and leaves growing in her garden and string from daffodil leaves. You will also make 3D wild flowers based on patches in Wildflower Europe’s Patchwork Meadow Exhibition and specimens from the Robert Dick Herbarium. This event is part of the Wild North Festival (Friday 28th June until Sunday 7th July 2013).

 

Suitable for children aged 7-12 years old. FREE workshop but pre-booking is essential as places are limited. Priority booking will be given to members of “Peter’s Pals” – Young Curators Club.
