Inverness born and raised Jenna Watt is returning to the Highland capital on Saturday 6 July to perform her award-winning production Flâneurs as part of the Play Pieces lunchtime season.

Winner of a Scotsman Fringe First Award, the show explores the by-stander effect and is based on real-life experiences.

In 2010, a close friend of Jenna’s was attacked and mugged in London. Shocked to discover that bystanders witnessed the attack on her friend, Jenna struggles to understand what prevents witnesses of violent acts from protesting and asks whether ‘one punch is enough’ to provoke an intervention.

Lindsay Brown of Play Pieces explains “when we were programming the season this production really stood out as it’s a different way of presenting theatre, using an almost lecture-like style, as well as video accounts of people. However now, the idea the by-stander effect, what with news and media reports coming from the hands of the public who witness events, seems even more relevant and worth exploring.”

Jenna, who participated in the young Florians as well as studying Acting & Performance at Inverness College, will be taking part in a free talk about her work, experiences and inspirations at Velocity Cafe at 7pm on Friday 5 July.
