The Blas Festival will have a band in residence when the festival kicks off across the Highlands on 9 September 2011.

The Gaelic theatre-in-education group Meanbh-chuileag, which operates as a Fèisean nan Gàidheal project, is in the middle of a Scotland-wide tour with a new play.

Scotland’s interwoven communities of islanders, poets and musicians, Gaelic-speakers, scholars and all with an interest in the promotion of Scottish literature and Scottish identity will be gathering on Skye this June to celebrate one of their own.

This year’s Blas Festival got off to a flying start with tickets starting to sell within hours of going on sale on 8 March.

SingThing 2011 will take place in Plockton on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th March, and will highlight the craft of songwriting in the Scottish and Gaelic traditions.
