Ninety-eight years after The Picture Palace on Harbour Street opened its doors to the public, and four years after the last night of the North Star nightclub, demolition is due to begin shortly on this, one of Shetland’s iconic buildings.

Two new exhibitions open this August 2011 at the Inchmore Gallery near Inverness.

Jennifer Cantwell lives and works in Forres, Moray. Jennifer is one of four makers who is taking part in the Making Progress 2011 – a HI-Arts mentoring project for mid career makers as part of the HI-Arts Craft Development programme . Jennifer’s exhibition ‘Birdsong’ opens this weekend at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and then runs from 13 August – 10 September 2011.

Poetry Beyond Text: vision, text and cognition’ is an exhibition created from a two-year research project exploring how we read, view and interpret the visual aspects of poetry. The exhibition is on show at Moray Art Centre from Tuesday 9 August until 1 October.
