COLIN MARR tells Northings what the new Eden Court has to offer.

TWO YEARS and five months after Eden Court Theatre closed its doors with a sold out concert by Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham to begin a massive refurbishment and extension project, the theatre will reopen on 3 November with the same artists and another full house.

EDEN COURT THEATRE found itself much in the news in July, albeit without actually doing anything. A banner front-page headline in the Press & Journal suggesting that the theatre would miss all of Highland 2007 proved to have nothing concrete to add to the current understanding of the situation, which is that the theatre is still scheduled – but not certain – to re-open sometime in the final third of the year.

THE NEWS THAT the work on Eden Court Theatre in Inverness has run into delays will come as no great surprise, given the cost and complexity of the project they have undertaken. Colin Marr has always admitted that the projected re-opening date of late 2006 (in time for the panto was the original fingers-crossed target) would depend on a hassle-free operation, and that was never really on the cards.
