Sixteen festivals today (02 February 2011) received a share of over £300,000 to help attract more visitors to Scotland during 2012: the Year of Creative Scotland.

Celtic Connections sees the launch of a brand new theatre strand as the festival.

The beautiful parish of Assynt will hold a festival from 3-10 October 2012. The festival will celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of the area, which is rich in geology, archaeology, history, wildlife, art, crafts, Gaelic language, music and literature.
